Piano Moving Services Across the UK
We move pianos and nothing else. That focus is why every crew arrives with skid boards, toe-jacks, quilted transit covers and floor protection as standard, and why we can quote confidently for jobs other removal firms turn down — third-floor Victorian conversions, concert grands, and hoist-only access.
From £180
Insured relocation of upright, studio and console pianos anywhere in the UK.
Upright pianos carry their weight high and toward the back, which is why they tip so easily on stairs. Our crews strap the instrument onto a piano skid, protect the casework with quilted transit covers, and use non-marking dollies to protect your floors from door to van.
From £300
Full dismantle, skid-board transport and rebuild for grand pianos of every size.
Baby grands, parlour grands and concert grands are lowered onto a padded skid, the lyre and legs removed and wrapped separately, and the case secured upright in a climate-controlled vehicle. At the destination the piano is rebuilt, levelled and positioned exactly where you want it.
From £90
Careful handling for digital pianos, stage pianos and electric keyboards.
Digital instruments are lighter but far more fragile electronically. Keyboards are wrapped, stands broken down, and everything is shock-mounted in transit so circuit boards and key actions arrive intact.
From £25/week
Humidity-stabilised storage between moves, renovations or property completions.
Pianos hate dry heat and damp equally. Our storage units hold a stable 45–55% relative humidity so soundboards do not crack and tuning stability is preserved for however long you need.
From £150
Responsible collection, donation or recycling of unwanted pianos.
Where a piano is beyond economical repair we collect it, strip reusable parts for restorers, and recycle the frame and casework. Playable instruments are offered to schools and community groups first.
From £400
Window, balcony and external hoist access where stairwells are impassable.
Period conversions and city-centre apartments frequently have staircases no piano will pass. We survey the property, arrange the lift equipment and any permits required, and complete the move through a window or balcony opening.
How a piano move works, step by step
- 1. Access survey. You tell us the piano type, floor level, stairs, doorway widths and parking. Awkward access is priced honestly up front rather than added on the day.
- 2. Protection. Casework is wrapped in quilted covers, the keyboard lid is secured, and floors, door frames and bannisters are protected before the piano is touched.
- 3. Lift and load. Uprights travel on a skid; grands are dismantled onto a skid board. A hydraulic tail lift takes the weight into the vehicle where the piano is strapped upright against the bulkhead.
- 4. Climate-controlled transit. Stable temperature and humidity protect the soundboard and pinblock over long distances.
- 5. Placement and rebuild. Grands are rebuilt and levelled, castor cups fitted on request, and the piano placed away from radiators and exterior walls.
- 6. Tuning advice. Leave the instrument two to four weeks to acclimatise, then tune for lasting stability.
